Tree Cabling—Strengthening Co-Dominant Stems
Sometimes, a tree will develop two co-dominant stems rather than just
a single trunk. This is often dangerous, especially if the two stems
form a V because the bark grows around each stem, creating a very weak
connection. Eventually the two stems WILL separate, with one or both
crashing to the ground (or onto a home). One way to help save some of
these trees is to install a cabling system.
Our cabling
system works like a spring shock absorber system on your car. When the
wind blows, the stems separate. Then the tension in the rubber within
the cable line draws the stems back to their natural state, much like
the spring. When we can save a tree, we will. Often a cabling system is
all that's needed to give your tree many more years of life.
